Abidine Maetalla is an abolitionist, combatting modern day slavery in Mauritania.
“We have to collaborate and we have to work hand in hand with each other in order to overcome slavery, discrimination, segregation, extremism, and so on.”
Abidine spent 6 weeks at the Presidential Precinct as a Mandela Washington Fellow. The Mandela Washington Fellowship is the flagship program of President Obama’s Young African Leaders Initiative (YALI), which empowers young people through academic coursework, leadership training, and networking.
